What is LASIK?

In LASIK personalized care and experience is everything. At Sierra Nevada Laser Center we provide both to every patient. Each patient's individual visual needs are carefully treated with a lifetime commitment.
LASIK or Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis treats refractive errors by removing corneal tissue beneath the surface of the cornea. LASIK is found to be the most "advanced" refractive surgical procedure available today and with this technology one is able to correct low to severe degrees of nearsightedness, astigmatism, and farsightedness.
this technology, however, requires a level of skill and experience not found in all surgeons. At Sierra Nevada Laser Center, Dr. Matti Vazeen, has performed thousands of successful surgeries.
Procedure
First the eye is anesthetized with eye drops. Next a precision instrument is used to create a thin flap of corneal tissue that remains hinged to the eye. The Excimer Laser then sculpts the deeper corneal layers and the flap is replaced to it original position. This approach drastically improves the healing process thus allowing the surface of the cells to re-grow and eliminate post-operative discomfort within 24 hours. At Sierra Nevada Laser Center we use a third generation flap maker that we believe is the safest technology available today.
Excimer lasers have been used to correct the nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism of over six million people worlwide. An estimated 98% of these patients are now seeing 20/20 to 20/40 without glasses. With such impressive results, how could you expect laser vision correction to improve?
